Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

Maya

Is anyone feeling the Christmas vibes as yet? *Raises both hands*

I mean THIS is the season for you to curl up with a cup of hot chocolate. It is also the best time of the year as Starbucks have started with their holiday-inspired beverages.

They have come up with a few flavors for the holiday season. Despite the fact that the drinks are all very “comforting”, $9 for a Venti, it is not something you can have every day, even though you feel you should, as the Xmas drinks are only going to be around for about a month or so. Decisions decisions!

Most people would just go ahead and burn a hole in their pockets, where else some would make their own drinks! *Points to myself* It’s not only affordable but also it doesn’t contain squirts of unknown flavoring and syrup.

Hot chocolate is obviously delicious but I just had to raise the bar with a couple spoonsful of salted caramel. Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, just the name alone is so comforting; especially since it is the real deal here. Real caramel made from cream and butter.

Is it just me or a lot of the hot chocolates sold over in Singapore are just mostly cocoa mixed with milk? It is nothing compared to those thick hot chocolates that you get in Europe. Although hot chocolate can be made in many different ways, beginning with either cocoa powder or chopped chocolate, the latter is better as it yields a rich and creamy version.

Obviously, with the addition of my homemade salted caramel, the hot chocolate just went a notch up. The hint of salt is what dreams are made of!

Do give this Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate a try if you need something that is chocolatey and decadent. It is just the perfect treat to cozy up in the nights as there is something magical about it. Some people would call this “therapy for the soul”.
