Watermelon Lemonade Recipe

I am pretty sure that I have mentioned this before in my earlier posts, but I am still gonna do it once again. *SCREAMS* I HAVE AWESOME COUSINS!!

I have been wanting a new photography board for more than an year now. I have two boards that I made with my brother sometime back, but I was growing tired of the same old boards and my pictures were looking the same. I wanted to buy a new board and I saw many really pretty ones at Etsy which didn’t work out cause shipping alone was gonna cost me a bomb. $400? That is like 1 month of groceries. Well, almost!

My cousins obviously knew that I wanted a new photography board oh-so-badly and one of them actually surprised me with one!! She went to Australia for a holiday and during that, she bought a gorgeous board for me. She was even held at the customs because of the wooden board. I literally hugged the board when I received it. Yes, I hugged the board and not my cousin. True story.

I have 3 elder brothers and no sisters, but my cousins kinda make up for that void feeling of being sister-less. Who wants real sisters anyways? They steal your makeup and clothes and shoes and handbags. Well, I heard about all these from Friends. No first-hand experience here. 😀

My cousins are the best because….

My cousins bought me my first kitchen Aid.

I bought my DSLR with the encouragement of my cousin. I have been wanting to buy one for quite some time but I didn’t know if I really need one or not. I am really glad that she pushed me into this. Thanks Dijah!

♥ Once I was stuck somewhere deserted for a few hours, in the night and I couldn’t get a cab and calling one didn’t help either. I told my cousin to call a cab for me but in the end, she personally came to pick me up and “rescued” me. Riya, you are a huge fan of superheroes, but I guess you didn’t foresee yourself being a hero one day. My hero at least!

Standing in front of my door with a cake+churros and flowers right after midnight on my birthday. The things that my cousins do!

♥ Fetching and sending me to the doctor when I am ill.

I am crazy about smoked Paprika and thanks to my cousin, I get unlimited supplies of this wonderful spice!!

♥ Carrying this photography board all the way from Australia. Hand carry to be precise and let’s face it, this board isn’t the lightest things to carry after all.

I can actually go on and on because my cousins are truly amazing. You slay me cousins, you really do. ♥♥♥

Talking about amazing. Check out this picture?

Isn’t the board just beautiful???

Dear cousins,

Although we weren’t sisters at birth, but I guess we were put
together in the same family, just so that we can be sisters at heart. – xoxoxo

Anyhoo, a couple of nights ago, I was wandering around aimlessly on Pinterest and I saw a yummy picture of a watermelon lemonade which got me all intrigued that I had to go and purchase a watermelon the next morning. Some cravings needs to be fixed ASAP.

Lemonade is always refreshing but Watermelon + lemonade is refreshing x 2. Soothing, refreshing, energizing and oh so pretty. I am a fan of watermelon and I think nothing beats chomping down wedges of cold watermelon on a hot summer day! I love watermelon juice too, and I have somehow tried quite a combination of drinks made with watermelon.

  • Watermelon cubes  + Grass Jelly + Simple Syrup + Water = A delicious Asian-inspired drink. This watermelon and grass jelly drink is very delicious and super refreshing.
  • Watermelon + Lychee + Ice Cream Soda = Watermelon and Lychee Mocktail
  • Watermelon cubes + Rose Syrup + Unsweetened Soy Milk + Ice = A sweet, dreamy and creamy milkshake.

This Watermelon Lemonade Recipe is really easy to prepare. You can either use a juicer or a blender. It has the perfect amount of sweet and tart. The amount of sugar used would depend on the sweetness of the watermelon. The watermelon I used was sweet, so I didn’t have to use much sugar. Using a good watermelon just makes it so much better.

This red is for real people. It is not the magic of Photoshop.

People, it’s time to ditch all those bottled lemonade that probably does not even contain real lemons. Give this Watermelon Lemonade Recipe a try instead. This is high on fresh and the flavor will have your taste buds tingling and screaming for more. I am totally in love with it’s deliciousness!

Serves: 4
Ingredients
  • Half a watermelon, cut into cubes (about 5 cups)
  • ¼ cup sugar (more if your watermelon is not sweet)
  • Juice of 2-3 lemons (see notes)
  • 1 cup chilled water (for blending)
  • ¼ cup hot water (For simple syrup)
Instructions
  1. Cook the sugar in ¼ cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely melted.
  2. Alternatively, you can just dissolve the sugar in ¼ cup of hot water. This works just as well.
  3. Squeeze lemons into a large pitcher.
  4. In a blender, blend watermelon and some water in batches
  5. Pour this mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into the pitcher.
  6. Add in simple syrup and stir to combine.
  7. Serve over ice.
Notes
Use 2 lemons if you prefer it mildly sour. If you prefer it sour, you can use 3 lemons.
