Hi guys, do you love TikTok? If you’re a fan of the platform, you’ve likely come across this viral recipe known as Subak HwaChae, a delightful watermelon fruit punch that’s been taking over your FYP. It is a refreshing watermelon fruit punch that combines the flavors of milk and lime soda. It has gained immense popularity, with even the BTS giving it a try! (No need to introduce BTS, right?)
At first, I had no idea who BTS was, but my nieces are huge fans. BTS fans are affectionately known as the ‘Army’. Initially, I couldn’t distinguish between the members; they all seemed the same, didn’t they? However, thanks to my second niece, I’ve not only learned to identify each of them but can also hum and sing along to some of their songs and I am not even proud. (Sings: smooth like butter, like a criminal undercover) Sorry, I am digressing.
Returning to this delightful pink-hued bowl, making HwaChae is pretty easy. I used watermelon, grapes, nata de coco, and strawberries, but feel free to use your favorite fruits. Canned fruits, mixed fruit cocktails, and blueberries would also work wonderfully! *Whispers* By the way, BTS used canned peaches.
You can use plain milk, although I personally went with strawberry milk. In Korea, Chilsung cider is the classic choice, but since it might not be readily available, I substituted it with 7-Up. Sprite would also be a great alternative!! If you prefer a sweeter Hwachae, consider adding a couple of spoonfuls of sweetened condensed milk. However, if you’re watching your calorie intake, the natural sweetness from the strawberry milk and 7-Up should suffice. Make sure all your ingredients are cold. While I did include a few ice cubes, be cautious not to overdo it, as excessive ice can dilute the Hwachae!
If you need a simple, yet delicious and refreshing drink do give this Hwachae – Korean Watermelon Punch recipe a try. It’s a perfect choice for any occasion and a delightful way to incorporate more fruits into your diet!
