Have you read about a study that people with a “sweet tooth” are supposed to have sweeter dispositions? Apparently, those who like sweet stuffs are known to be more compassionate, friendly and cooperative.
So what does that mean?
It means, it is time to grab a bowl of dessert! It would obviously be fab if the dessert uses only four ingredients. Yes, you read me right. ONLY FOUR INGREDIENTS. (Note: Water can’t be counted as an ingredient)
This is one of my SUPER favorite dessert especially during Ramadan or when I am ill. This dessert spells comfort as well as it is a symbol of my mother’s love for me. It reminds me of those days when she would make bowls of these for me when I was ill just to whet my appetite. ♥ This heartwarming FOUR Ingredients Sweet Potato Dessert is a very delicious Chinese dessert that is perfect for anytime of the day. I generally prefer it for my afternoon tea especially on cold days. It is very simple to prepare and an absolute no-brainer.
The pandan (screwpine) leaves impart a wonderful flavor and aroma. However it is not mandatory to use it if you do not have any access to screwpine leaves. The brown sugar also adds a wonderful flavor and aroma to this dessert. This dessert is very versatile. We would always add different ingredients to it to spice things up a bit. You may add dried longan, red dates and even sago pearls. This is also delicious, when cold. We usually cook a HUGE pot of this and drink it hot/warm on the day of preparation and the leftovers are stored in the fridge for a yummy cold dessert 0n the next day!
There are a few varieties of sweet potatoes and I would usually try a different variety everytime. The common ones would be Japanese sweet potatoes or Honey sweet potatoes. You can of course use whatever that is available to you. If you are a fan of sweet potato, you might also like this Bubur Chacha which is dessert made from sago, sweet potato and coconut milk.
Do give this recipe a try people since according to researchers, a bowl of this would mean a sweeter personality. 😉
