Back when I was younger (not that I am old now), the only garlic bread I had were the ones from Pizza Hut. It was always a treat. At least that’s what the young Maya thought!
Obviously, I had no idea that homemade garlic bread would be so easy to make.
I started making my own garlic bread about 4 years back and there is no turning back since then. To be frank, there is no right or wrong to a garlic bread recipe. Some people prefer to use garlic powder but I am all for fresh garlic. Most of the time I just use butter, however there would be certain days when I would mix butter and olive oil. Either way, it works perfectly fine.
For those who are not ready to use butter and would prefer margarine, go for it. It works too, but honestly I do trust cows more than chemist.
So basically, you start mixing the butter with grated garlic and some herbs. Fresh is good, but if unavailable, dried herbs work perfectly as well. You then spread the garlic butter onto the slices of baguette or even sourdough bread. Bake for about 15-20 minutes and you will be rewarded with the most delicious homemade garlic bread.
My mom is obsessed with the garlic bread prepared by me. I enjoy my garlic bread with a side of soup, you know something to dip it with? My mom, on the other hand, would easily eat them on it’s own. Ever so often, when I would purchase a loaf of baguette and cut it into really thin rounds, butter them with the garlic spread and bake them really crunchy. They turn into these really crunchy, scrumptious biscuits. Or should I say toasties? Whatever it’s called, my mom super loves it and she would store these in an airtight bottle and snack on them every day for either breakfast or tea. It keeps well in an airtight bottle for at least a week.
Anyways, do give this easy garlic bread recipe a try. There is just something so comforting about the taste of fresh bread topped with butter, minced garlic and herbs. If you want to make it cheesy, just sprinkle some mozzarella on the garlic bread towards the last 2-3 minutes of baking.
Tomorrow I would be sharing a mouth-watering soup recipe that goes wonderfully well when accompanied with these garlic bread. Stay tuned!!
